How can a huge angled fan blade driven with more power not flow at least as much as electric fans? Of course actual comparative measurements on the car would prove it one way or another, but I'm confident of what the outcome would be. That same fan blade fitted into a shroud that covers the entire radiator with no leaks HAS to cover the core better i.e. 100%, you can't get better than that. Neil, handy to know that replacement fan motors are redily available from Toyota .

The shear size of the fan blades or even the fact that the fan motor has be claimed at 2hp doesn't say that it l draw more than the electric items. So does this mean motor should be rated at 1000+hp because one someone told me and two because it capable ? The power steering pump idea is a very good thought for those doing up a car, well worth looking into. How ever i still feel it wouldn't work. I make this comment boldly because Toyota do spend a lot of money design all aspects of these cars and still do it smartly and cost effectively. If this could have been done without compramising on the quality or performance of either area, i am sure they would have done it that way.
I would be great if someone was able to find tech info on the hydraulic fan and it cfm, this way all they speculation could cease and hard facts end this debate.

Steven after spending quite a few hours repairing various leaks including the forementioned cooling fan setup on a wide body Camry recently... i can assure you the pumps are bugger all different to your run of the mill steer pump.
Damn car leaked a fair bit only when the air cond was cranked....i'll let you figure out how i made the diagnosis...
I can name a few pieces of equipment that use P/S pumps to control aux equipment...its not new.
Not doubting for a minute that twin electrics can move air....Holden and Ford use them but if it was a case of "no expense spared" they would use hydraulics....much more reliable.
Important thing for elect fans is that they must be baffled correctly otherwise they dont pump at thier rated output...is yours???
