Hi guys, just my self some new rocker gaskets for my 1J. Do i just fit them or will they require gasket sealant? I asked toyota but they didnt know...

you just fit them, they shouldnt need sealant...if they do, you didnt put them in right, the whole point of gasket is so it seals!

No sealant was required on mine. Just make sure the bolts get tightened evenly. I did mine in 2 passes.

narvey i would recommend putting small bit of sealant in the corners of the arch at the front and across the half moon at the rear just incase. the rest should be fine just tighten it to torque spec and after a couple of hundred kms retighten again. you may need to replace the rubber seals under the screws as they get hard and shatter as you so them up and wont flex with heating up and cooling so will give higher chance of leaking again.

and make sure you clean the surface properly before you install them
