I had my TT soarer converted to a single turbo about 10 months ago. So new turbo/manifolds/FMIC/440 injectors/boost controller. He also put in a jay car boost limit remover which doesn't seem to work. Cost way more then I was quoted (in writing) and the car was off the road 4 months not the 2-3 weeks as promised (in writing), but its done and I would be happy enough except:
Ever since then its been stalling - infrequently, something like 3 times a week. Also often it idles unevenly and down as low as 400rpm when its warm. (on cold start it is ok) Often after a few seconds of idling slowly it picks up again. The real problem is sometimes when the revs dip down it stalls straight away. I wouldn't be so worried it it only happened when the car was stationary but once I was breaking into a corner going hard and it stalled...suddenly no power stearing ...I don't want to have that happen again!
I've taken it back probably 10 times or more and tried a different ecu twice and had my idle air control valve replaced by another 2nd hand one. This hasn't made any difference.
Has anyone got any idea what the issue might be? I am pretty sure the issue isn't to do with the injectors...I got them in summer and it wasn't stalling before winter but it was idling very low and unevenly even in summer. If I could just get it to idle higher I expect the issue would go away.
Anyone got any ideas about whats going on? air fuel mix? injectors? something else? Is it possible to pull some dodge to make it idle higher? anyone want to swap or buy a great car? its nearly great but the stalling is driving me insane! The mechanic doesn't seem very motivated or have a plan on what to do next and I certainly have no clue what else to try.
(I've also got boost control issues but figure that's something I can sort out without too much trouble later, I'll probably put a haltech interceptor in to overide standard boost and then get my boost controller working. But first I want to see if the stalling issue can be fixed, because if not maybe I need a full standalone ecu or something and I am not sure if that's a good use of money. I only went this way cause my mechanic promised it would cost less then it already has and not need even the piggy back ecu)
Thanks for your suggestions. I cannot see anything wrong with the power, and the rest of the electrical system seems to work fine, even when the idle is wonky. I have a relatively new battery.
I thought the issue came before the original injectors were swapped but maybe I should try them again. The weather seems to be warmer which is reducing the occurrence, which is only going to make it harder to get to the bottom of. The car would probably be fine if it lived in Qld!
I have noticed sometimes a strange noise when the car is at idle- maybe from the fan belt(?) it doesn't occur particularly when the idling is wonky so I don't know if its related.

Firstly do you have any kind of piggyback ecu or an SAFC? Did the mechanic put the car on a dyno and check the afr's?
If not, your erratic and low idle is more than likely due to running 440cc injectors without compensating. The ecu thinks you've still got stock injectors thus the 440cc injectors are overfueling (more than likely across the rev range).
Get yourself an emanage blue asap as you'll more than likely need to pull timing to compensate for the single turbo and adjust the afr's for the 440cc injectors
