Hey all finally got my v8 started today after many months of her laying dormant. As soon as she turned over sitting in drive the revs where spiking from 1200-2500rpm, this also occurred in neutral.
We then ran it for a few minutes and drove it forward and back 10 meters, after this changing into any other gear would cause the engine to die. We came to the conclusion that it may have been caused by a weak battery?
Does any one have any suggestions to the cause of this problem? Cheers.

Could be stale fuel.
