Dead battery, dirty terminals or bad earth.
Can you jump start using jumper leads?

Terminals not connected properly. Wiggle it a little bit and then try again. Otherwise yeah dead battery.

When I switch on my lights (head lights), its fully on plus it looks like normal....so you still think its battery......ok, will jump start and then update.

even when your battery is almost 100% dead it still makes the funny clicking noise in my experience. you havent been moving the ecu around at all have you? i found the other day that i didnt plug one of the plugs in properly and everything worked fine except the engine wouldnt do anything. other than that have a look at the starter motor and for loose wires maybe??

I havent done anything with the ECU. I have a spare ECU I tested the ECU when this problem occured.

The starter motor has never been serviced since factory. I will get the starter motor checked and than update.

Yeah lights coming on doesn't tell you much. I've had flat batteries where the lights are still lit up bright but the moment you go to start it the lights go out. If that happens it's a flat battery.
I've also loose terminals. They were on tight but maybe because of a bit of dirt or build up wasn't making 100% contact. Wiggled it a little bit and gained power. So you want to try both.

this might sound weird but try hitting the starter motor with something. even if its a long screw driver and a hammer. couple of taps on the solid parts

then try cranking it while hitting the starter motor (will obviously need 2 people for this)

if this fixes it and the car start it means the contacts in your starter motor are worn and need replacing.

similar thing happened to me in my celica (was a common problem) all the electrics where fine. not a flat battery, just needed a relay installed to boost the current to the starter

Hi Guys

I tried jump start, it didnt work.....lifted by car off the ground to get under neath it, found the starter, cleaned the connectors and tried to start, no effect.....went down again, hit the starter with a rod, it worked but it seems that the starter is moving really tight and also some smoke cam off the starter.....i assume its the starter than......i couldnt remove the starter yesterday but will try it today.

will update

thnx

smoke off the starter? like its shorting out and sparking causing smoke?

but yeah i'd suggest taking the starter off and pulling it apart and cleaning up all the copper contacts inside.

or follow this guide and install a relay (its really easy) i did it on my old celica and never had a problem since
