Or if you do, and get caught, and have to cheat to get out of trouble, don't think about making the cops pay for the test. They were right.

The cops are never right when they pull you over for a "random" inspection and ask you to rev your car to the wrong RPM range for your engine and don't even listen to it. No matter how quiet it is, they will still say it's too loud, and you have to go get it tested because even if they can't fine you on the certain occasion, they'll still do whatever they can to make you owning your car as difficult as possible.

What would the wrong RPM range be? Over redline?

read what i wrote again.

if you have to CHEAT TO GET THROUGH THE TEST AT THE TESTING CENTRE, don't bitch about being caught. your car was illegal. if you show up, and your car turns out to be legal without any messing with it, i have no problem with you attempting to recover the money.

I have no problem being pulled over and had my car looked at. its pretty clean. I just wish they had a method of testing me on the spot, and if its over, i will get it rectified. no big deal, no nickers in a knot.

Imagine being pulled over at a random breath test and having the cop ask you, as they have no method of testing, to go to a hospital and pay for a blood test to prove you are under the limit?
furthermore imagine not being pulled over but receiving a letter saying A cop saw you drive past and wants you to go get a blood test!
The EPA test is a little trick they have to make life difficult when they have no other reason to pick on you.
I was driving up a lane way next to a corragated (sp) iron fence when it happened, i remember the day!

My exhaust isnt that loud under normal driving conditions, at least its not as unpleasant ass a lancer with a milo tin on the back.
If i am over i will cop it sweet, if i am under, again, i will write a letter asking to be reimbursed for my time and effort.

Each engine has a different RPM level it has to be tested at. V8's are around the 4000rpm mark, 1J's I think are the 3200rpms.

Who cares if you have a problem or not? Avin's got nothing to prove to you, and I'm sure if his car passes or not, he's not going to lose a wink of sleep based upon your stance on the matter.

I don't mean to be rude, I just don't understand where your feelings come into this?

The reason behind my first post was that Avin has never been done for this before (Or so I assume?) so how is he supposed to know if his car is legal or not? It's not as if he can go "Oh, that's DEFINATELY over 90db"

Basically, if he doesn't know, how long is a piece of string.

Or a copper sends you a letter asking you to prove that you weren't speeding 3 weeks ago when they didn't have a radar or camera to check.

I think that individual officers should be made accountable for heresay things, with no evidence, like this. It may help with the solving of real crimes and stop them picking on import drivers.
(yes, I know we've been through all this before, and no-one need jump on either band wagon again in this thread)

Granted that if the exhaust was 140 dB he should be pinged, but I've heard Avin's exhaust and I don't think it's that loud or intrusive.

Oh, and Morgs, relax dude.

Pull the stick out of your ass. This is a forum for *discussion*. Seems you can't make a reasonable point so it's "well i don't care what you say". as it turns out, i used to have the exact same setup on my car. no way that was even close to 90dB.

I'm done on this topic.

I was pulled over by a cop on a power trip. I was in my camry which was completely stock except for the exhaust. I had the exhaust tested when I had it done it was way under the limit and didn't sound loud at all.

The copper first tried to do me for speeding which I wasn't, then tried dangerous driving which I wasn't and I certainly wasn't in the mood for her wasting my time. So I said no worries I will see you in court btw my mate was behind me in his car that we just pick up from the mechs and he had stopped on the side of the road with me.

Then she wanted to see under the bonnet.
The copper after going through everything and not finding anything went for the EPA. I told her that I had it tested etc she was not happy. She went through the car again and finally did me for dirty number plates. They were a little dusty but still completely visible and given I live in the country on a dirt road they look like that after about the first trip.

Cost me 90 bucks for the dirty plates instead of the 30 to get EPA tested again.

I guess I should have left my mouth shut on this one but then again I shouldn't have too

STFU Miles, I'd love to respond to you from my heart, but I don't wanna be banned for arguing with such a ****ing wanker.

So I'm done too.

Damian: Tough break there, I guess it does pay to keep your mouth shut at times, but when you know you are screwed, that's when you can shoot your mouth off. hehe.
