Hey has anybody here played with an emanage ultimate much?

So far we have been able to get around 480hp out of my soarer, but we cant get anymore without playing with the ignition timing. Thing is Any changes we make to the ignition table in the emanage ultimate make no difference whatsoever to the actual timing. We are also getting an incorrect ignition signal input error. We have everything wired up as per the the pinout in the manual. Is there something we are missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I should probably mention we are playing with a 1j here.
