I've looked through every 1JZ thread in the list and I found one thread that discussed a possible "culprit" of my boosting problem. I've just swapped a 1JZ/Auto into my 93' Lexus SC300. The swap was easy.. extended the wiring, dropped it in, everything bolts up/plugs up. The swap is done.. it fired first crank. Currently we are unable to make any boost. The turbos sound healthy, no extra smoke on throttle. They are also forcing air into the "hot side" intercooler piping, so they are making pressure. We pressure tested the intercooler to 30lbs and it's nice a tight. There are no evident leaks in the intercooler pipe route, none big enough to cause this massive of a leak. MAP sensor is good, but the car could use a spark plug change [Don't think this would cause no boost]. The thread I found discussed a guy who's car started making no boost/rough idle. After dismantling the turbos he found nothing evident that was wrong. Finally he dropped the exhaust after the downpipe and had boost again, and the car ran perfect. I'm basically running out of options and this seems to be the last thing to try. I know for a fact that my factory US Spec SC300 exhaust system is clogged up around the mid section/cat area. Does anyone else think this could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

Immense backpressure could be causing the problem. I would suggest you try remove your "clogged up exhaust around the mid section" and see what result this gives.
If the engine cannot breathe, you won't be getting much boost. Just like trying to run a marathon, but having to push a car in front of you... it's a lot easier when it's not there.

I just replaced my cat Yesterday due to my car not boosting...We thought it was the turbos blown because got a squealing noise when we reved it.

But i did the same thing as you and disconnected the front part of the Exhaust and regained Boost. So i got another Cat and am boosting again to 10psi. should be 12psi. so i also have another problem there, dunno what that is yet.

So defientley get your cat replaced.

Well we checked everything. I've got another set of turbos I'm ready to swap..... I'm guessing I had either bad turbos or a wastegate issue. Is there a write-up anywhere for removing the turbos?
