Hey guys,

I know it's odd but i really like the look of ford BA falcon xr6 rims. The plan would be to get some and change/modify the centre cap so it doesn't say ford anymore..

Will the BA XR6 falcon rims fit the soarer in a natural way? Not raise the car oddly and fit inside guards about right?

I believe the 17" rims have 36mm offset, similar to the soarer.

I was thinking of these because 1 they can be purchased cheap second hand, 2 they look easily replaceable, 3 they look a whole lot better than my stock ones.

I think ben lipman on his track car runs a set of painted falcon xr6 rims but before i fork out 800+ dollars for 4 rims and rubber (can pick up reasonably undamaged rims for about 200 without, or with 'roadworthy' tread for 800).

So then my goal for the car is essentially to look like a stock car. But not necessarily be a stock car. Just to an uninformed eye it should look completely natural.

Example from a wreckers:

Bens car running same/similar??

Yes. Anyhting from the AU series 2 onwards has an offeset workable for the Soarer. Best bit is they clear Supra big brakes better than the supra rims!

To be truly safe you would need to get spigot rings from a tyre shop or similar so thet the wheel fits snugly on the stub axle, but I have never bothered on the track car as they are only my storage/skid rims. If they were my daily, I would, to be safe.

They are a nice looking rim. A lot of the Ford factory rims are. You can get some nice 18 inch factory rims also from some of the FPV stuff.

You could probably sand the top of the centre cap and put a toyota 'T' on there to follow the factory theme.

Good advice, thanks Ben and quick response dan :-)

Those rings are the one which make the rim mate against the centre uh.. thing properly so it's not just held by studs?

Yes. They take the vertical load so the studs can do their job of applying friction between the wheel and hub.

This is probably a silly/dumb question........are XR6 wheels different to XR8 wheels in any way in how they would fit a Soarer?

All the falcons in the same series have the same offset and stud pattern. Basically everything from AU series 2 will fit, but the XR rims are generally the better looking of the lot.

rory you cant use an original soarer wheel nut as they are a flat headed nut, you need a conical type wheel nut, can get them at any wheel/tyre place or auto parts store, they are m12x1.5mm thread

Update: Fitted BA Falcon mags (painted black myself), looks really nice in person. Went to local wheel shop and the guy said any 12M 1.5 tapered nuts would do, so that's what i used.
