I thought I'd post this up as a warming to others playing with speed sensors.
Since these cars are getting old, failing speed sensors are becoming more common.
I have had a sensor go on all my soarers lately.

In my UZZ31 the speed sensor died. I had a spare JZZ30 speed sensor but it has different mountings so you can't bolt it straight in.
I removed the sensors from the housings and swapped them over. I then bolted the V8 speed sensor housing with the TT sensor back into my auto.
It worked great, but unknown to me at the time, my speedo was reading about 5km/h slow. So when the speedo was showing 80 I was doing 85. In VIC that's enough to cost you 3points and an unpleasant fine.
Luckily after a few days of constantly passing everyone on the freeway I pulled out my GPS and discovered the problem.
Yesterday I got hold of a working V8 speed sensor and installed it this morning. I went for a spin and confirmed with the GPS my speedo is now reading 5km/h fast (normal on most cars).

Interesting... Technically if you run 20's you could change speed sensor to compensate haha
