So my Soarer was broken into yesterday in broad daylight, they smashed the passenger window to steal $40 mp3 player. My insurance excess is $500 which isn't worth claiming on.
What are my options now? Do i need to somehow get a window from a wrecker? Is Soarer glass special somehow (it seems to have a green tint to it)? Any tips would be appreciated

Happened to me, smashed the drivers door glass to rip my boost gauge off the A pillar. toyota quoted me $500 for the glass. wrecker charged me $250. But that was almost ten years ago. the numbers may have changed. I got toyota dealer to install, but any competent mechanic will take care of business. won't matter if it is glass from a v8 or TT. it all matches up fine.

Glass cover on your insurance policy is a must IMO. No excess on glass claims on my car - only costs me something like $40 extra a year, and I've had to replace a few windows over the years, so it's more than worked out in my favour.

Yeah, i've learnt my lesson about having glass insurance - also about being lazy and leaving things viewable in the car. Good point about the tint, will have to find untinted.

UPDATE:
Managed to source a window from a wrecker for $75!! (about $60 AUD). Just left it at the shop now to get it fitted. Only thing is, the replacement window is clear and my old window seemed to have a factory green tint? Anyone know about that?

That's highly annoying when it comes to replacing these windows. Do you think it's possible to place an after market tint on the replaced window to emulate the green of the other windows? Like a 70% green or something?

It may be possible. The green tint window should be the most common and easy to get.(I might have one). Could you do a 35% tint all round? Cost? Is it worth it?

Thanks for the replies all, at a price of $75 locally sourced i couldn't pass up on this window - it isn't too noticeable and i'm going to take it to a tint shop this week to see if they can replicate the tint.
