Hi,i tried to change my fuel filter in my uzz30 today,i got the old one off quite easily, problem was when i was doing up the new one i rounded the rear nut inlet side, should i cut the fuel line as close as i can to the nut or where im not quite sure because the line goes to 90 degree not far back ,also where would i get connectors etc to fix it ,thanks

I used a pipe spanner the nut was already pretty well stuffed before I started .Are vice grips and multi grips the same tool , the nut isn't cross threaded it got pretty tight and when the spanner slipped once things went from bad to worse . I can tighten it to stop the leaking ,but next filter change I don't want to be using vice grips that's why I was asking about cutting the fuel line to replace the fitting ,would pirtek or enzed sell something suited .
I searched a bit and found an adapter that was able to thread into the stock fuel filter (m12x1.25 I think) to a male AN dash fitting which would work quite nicely with some higher quality fittings and still use OEM parts.
I will have another look and try and get some hard info.
these are multigrips which require the physical grip of your hands for tightness.
the problem you'll have is that the pipe will probably be flared for sealing, and re flaring the pipe will be a bitch of a task. personally i'd just learn to live with a rounded nut as replacing it will be a bitch
what your better off doing is undoing it and cutting the pipe as close as you can to the flare, if you intend on replacing it, this means you'll only loose the length of the flare (5mm or so) when you put the new bolt on.

Let me know how you go Shane, you might need a thin copper washer in-between the filter and the adapters like what is on the fuel rail banjo fittings to be on the safe side as the adapter doesn't seem to have the flared end on the metric side.
Some pics and a mini tutorial would be great

Hi, I plan on keeping the car for a few more years, well as long as the wife will put up with me fussing more over the car than her. True i probably wont have the car by the time next filter change comes along, but think of it as a favour to you guys haha, when i do eventually sell, u wont have a newbie asking how to remove the filter because the last owner stuffed it and was to lazy to try and fix it.
