This is not really a "problem", just a query:

While driving (parked at lights or cruising etc) my UZZ32 makes this "chuff" noise every 30 seconds or so. The noise comes from somewhere under/behind the instrument cluster.

It kind of sounds like the "whisk" sound of a door opening in Star Trek and Star Wars movies!. Bizarre, I know but can anyone explain what this is?

Also, when I turn the car off, there is a slow "pshhhhh" noise from the engine bay followed by a brief "PSHH!". This noise sounds everytime I turn the motor off whether or not I have had the aircon on or not.

Are either noises related to the active suspension?

do you have a pod type air filter? i get the "psshh" noice when i shutdown the car, the last of the air escaping out the pod. Especially audible when its quiet parking in garage. Dunno about the rest!

Yeah if you have a POD filter, i would say defientley thats the noise when you turn your car off. As for the other noise, no idea.

It could be related to the brake / TRC master cylinder??

Dan, does it still do it for a few seconds after switching off. If yes then it probably is, if no then it still could be.
I found that the ABS/TRC is easier to hear in the cabin than in the engine bay.

Mine does it for about 5 seconds or so after switching the engine off. It's like a slow "psshhhh" noise and ends with a louder "PSSHH!". Weird.

Investigate further but don't worry until alarms start appearing.
Other than that cut down on the baked beans.

Carbon cannister under the bonnet most likely.
