Hey Guys, First time using this page but I was hoping for some help with my 1991 V8 Limited soarer. It has recently been giving me some trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

firstly it has started stalling every now and then when breaking or slowing down it appears to idle between 400-600 but when I break it can drop to as low as 200 and then sometimes stalls. It will go days without doing it then do it 10 times a day. After it stalls the error screen comes up saying Charge but starts up fine again. I'm not sure if its related or not but it now also seems to have a miss which you can hear distinctively at around 1500rmp. ALSO on that note sometimes when I take off from the lights it feels it selects 3rd gear instead of first.

secondly, I seem to get fuel spill back out of the filler cap after I fill up which then goes down the back quarter panel and gets quite hard to remove

also I seem to have a very distinctive lifter tap (I believe) does anyone know how much it costs to stop it? I have tried a few stop tap products with no luck,

lastly my soarer no longer has air suspension it now has coil overs and I have a error constantly on my screen in Japanese which coverts to TEMS suspension does anyone know how to permanently remove this error,

thanks again guys :-)

If you haven't already done so , remove the main ECU and check if the capacitors are leaking, this is the cause of rough running in most cases these days

hello , I need help with simular situation , Ive swaped out MAF's and IAC's with no joy, the car will start then stall and if it does keep idle it is fast idle running rich with red japan warning writing on dash ,it too would drive like it is in third gear ,it has got worst for weeks now I wont take it out of the garge, several weeks back it would be fine if I drove to work in morning and drove straight home from work but if i had to make a stop in town it would be like it was running on 4 cylinder and also in higher gear , I know it could be anything from EFI fuse or coil ,a vaccum leak ,any other idea's ,please, thank you Pat.

Hi Pat, check the ecu.

Under passenger floor, black plastic cover.

If the ecu has a fishy / pungent smell at any of the small openings (theres one vent slit on the soarer v8 ecus) that would indicate leaky capacitors.

Further more it's usually best to open it up carefully and seeing what it's looking like inside.

90% of old Soarer V8 ecus would have early signs of cap leakage, to significant damage, sometimes beyond repair.
