50-100rwkw from a cam in a 1UZ?
Andrew you might want to bin the 1UZ and go the LS1 option you mentioned.

Your not going to make 280+rwkw with cams, MAF'less tune, CAI, extractors and exhaust system like you would with an ls1.

Unopened ls1's are running 12s in 1800kg statesmants.

Id be happy if you made 20rwkw with headwork and a remap. Ofcourse if you can make 50, im sure guys here would like to see the dyno and quarter mile results.

$2500+ for cams and install
$2000+ for stand alone ecu + install + tune ($3000 if you go for Autronic)
$2000 for an exhaust/extractors
$1500? for shiftkit or $4000+ for manual conversion.

I've already got 3 out of 4 and cams are on my shopping list. Still a few months away though but I'll give it a crack.

Timing is where the power is.
The factory timing is very conservative.
I'd be surprised if the knock sensors sensed anything at WOT with standard unleaded.

Might ping a bit at cruise though.

I think I'm running 10-12deg more timing than factory.

Yeah, I've known for a while that's where I need to look especially after seeing your car on Lextreme. I've been wondering how much further the timing can go so that's a good guide for me. Got other issues to sort out first though :-)

Properly designed aftermarket cams won't need shims other than the factory standard range if you're running standard or near standard clearances (why wouldn't you?). You'll still probably need a stack of new ones to get it right.
Reground cams usually have a slightly smaller base circle so will need larger shims, probably still in the factory range.
If you can get the thing to breathe and rev then the sky's the limit, and the depth of your pockets.
With some good headwork and the right cams and management it will make power, same as any engine. Better than a lot 'cos we already know it can rev given the chance. 50 to 100kW is certainly not out of the question.
The head work and extra cooling would work on a blower setup too with the right cams. More revs and a bigger blower would help too.

That's what i reckon anyway....

I reckon 30psi with a large overlap :-)
That would do it just fine :-)

15 psi and 11:1 compression
Don't need the headwork with a BIG blower; force the bugger to breathe.

I loved Scottys description of removing the shims.

"The shims are sort of sucked in place with an oil film and can be difficult to remove - they rotate freely but resist lifting out. It's sort of like a small version of when you flip your car at the beach in the wet sand and the roof is "sucked" to the ground and makes a popping sound when the front end loader lifts it out the next day after it's been there all night with the tide coming in and filling the inside with sand etc."

He wouldn't have been so cheerful if it was a V12
