$2500 for a complete 2j if you shop around. Remembering that you can sell off the twin turbos for $500, so the cost is about 2K. Allow approx $1500 for the swap as a guesstimate

the VVTi head would have to come off the 1JZ ECU will not run it the aristo sump has to be swapped with the 1JZ sump. you will need your head to fit the 1JZ head get head gasket and all * NEW * head bolts. it isn't a hard job to do it is just time consuming.
If you can find a 2JZ out of a Supra then grab that one that way your 1JZ can stay in 1 piece and you will be able to sell the whole thing off instead of pieces.
also you will have to use thew 1jz wiring harness. and while the new motor isn't fitted in the car change all the seals(front and rear mains cams) ,water pump timing belt

I will be doing an engine swap with my JZA80 supra soon, so I will be getting rid of the 2JZGE. The block should be great for any one looking to build a 1.5JZ with forged pistons and the lot.
The block itself is the same from what I've read. Other related differences are missing oil squirters under the pistons and higher compression pistons than the GTE.

Yes, the 1jz head will still bolt on. As said the only difference being higher compression pistons, and missing oil squirters, however when you are building a high power engine this hardly matters. I will be letting the motor go for about $650, but it wont be out of my car until september. If any one is interested email me at bazvandie@hotmail.com

does it have holes for oil lines as well?
Sorry, good point, I neglected to mention that they will have to be drilled, but that is no big deal either. If you want more info on that just look at some of the NA-T tutorials on www.supraforums.com

to do a 2jz GE you will need low comp pistons have the oil feed lines drilled and mod the sump for the oil drain lines. use the 1jz head the 1jz wiring loom will go straight on to the 2jz block/1jz head. as simon said above that is how Neil and i set up my motor which simon has now.

I didnt realise it was that easy (easier said than done i know!) A supra 2JZGTE may have to become top of my wish list now. Thanks for the info guys. (I love this guy!)
