went out to my car this morning and unlocked the boot (fiddling with amps) and put keys down inside boot, went off quickly to get a drink(it's bloody hot!) The wind shut the f**kin boot on me!! Any way to get into the car to unpop the boot? Can a coat hanger pull open the door locks?

NFI

Looks from your profile that you have a great sound system.

I guess cutting a spare key was next on the list...

I did that once two.

Luckily my door was still open so I took the bottom part of the dash apart and connected the two little wires for the boot to pop it open!

Do you have an alarm on your car? Spare remote lock remote maybe lying around anywhere?

That happened to me at 1am the other night and I didn’t have a spare key (I do now!) and my boot release button inside the car had stopped working two days before. The RACV removed the entire back seat, parcel shelf, sub and used a coat hanger to fish out the keys, it took about 40 minutes and cost me an additional joining fee of $60 because we joined and asked for assistance at the same time $120 all up. It was an expensive mistake.

Can you get into the inside of the car?

The RACV guy said I would have to call a lock smith if I couldn’t get through via the inside of the car, although he doesn’t know Soarers like some of the guys on here.

They are definitly a difficult car to break into without causing damage. Like most modern cars though, its probably just a matter of getting something down to hook around the front door handle area, the rod that runs to the catch from the handle, or the leaver on the latch itself (easier said than done) I'm sure a good auto locksmith/ex crim could do it though.

yea it wont be easy, you could give the coat hanger a try but there isnt much of a lip on the locking latch so it will be hard to get that with out scratching it heaps, as for the handle its self you will need pretty firm wire to pull it open from the inside (the wire bends). However you could try hitting the central locking button inside the car that would probably be your easiest bet, then open it as usual.

If you want a lock smith it wont help that its a public holiday :-(

A brick through the window always works. :-)

Just pick the cheapest window.

Which isn't the smallest window. Most insurance policies allow for a free replacement front windscreen however.

However, the bits of windscreen will go everywhere and you'll be driven nuts with the incessant rattle of bits of glass in the ac vents.

i recon your only hope is pushing the central locking button. Try getting a couple of clothes hangers and twisting them together. Try and feed it through the window rubber.

Good luck mate :-)

Got the keys!!! I was able to jimmy the door open slightly with a fat screwdriver and slip a coat hanger through the rubber. Made up a hook on 1 end and latched onto the boot release which popped the boot! No damage whatsoever. Phew!

Good work Nathan. Good to see you didn't need to damage the beautiful car. If that was me, I'd probably have called a locksmith. DIY jobs for me never work out :-(

did that once to a laser I drove long time ago, could not be stuffed with coat hangers and what not,

Baseball cap around the fist and bang passanger window out, get keys drive to wrecker new window 30 bucks, drive to carlovers 2 bucks of vaccum to clean glass all done please come again.

On a serios note, while putting my car back together I locked the keys in the boot but I did not hook up the wiring nor did I hook mechanism to the barrel, so a spare key wasnt gonna do much.

I drilled a 6 mm hole next to the barrell and used a screwdriver to push the mechanism open , then put a rubber gromet in the holes place, took 20 min to work out how to do it and a whole 2 min to do.

Not if a stray brick from the 'renovations' 'accidently' hits the window.

Yep had the same problem just before I left work a while back, dropped keys into the boot and watched it close before I could react, bought a alarm the next day. A locksmith had to use a inflatable device he put between window and glass, then put a device like coat-hanger down one side of the glass and up the other. finally opened it, hard a lex's manual open clip on the door is rounded smooth to stop this.

Third post down

'I took the bottom part of the dash apart and connected the two little wires for the boot to pop it open!'

The boot lock by the driver boot release is just a switch - shorting out the switch at the back overrides the lock.
Need to remove the dash area to access the rear of the boot release lock.
