Am I correct when saying that the soarers power steering is lighter at lower speeds, and then gets firmer at higher speeds? If so, at higher speeds(ie-100kph) what would cause the steering to go from firm to light to firm to light and so on?

If you mean you are having that problem, perhaps its related to pressure output from the power steering pump. Check for leaks, belt slippage etc.

Sorry, I wasn't very sharp last night. Excuse the pun but he's probably right.

I am thinking it might be related to a speed sensor that tells the system whether to be light or heavy.

Power steering computer is behind glovebox, could be faulty. Vacuum line to power steer rack could be leaking.

As Mark has suggested, I would suspect the power steering ECU. Unfortunately these cars are getting OLD (along with the rest of us!), and although the electronics are VERY good on our cars, nothing lasts forever
