Has anyone come across this before? I'm changing my timing belt - taking several days to do it as I have to work as well and anyone who's done it knows you have to half dismantle the engine to get at the belt! Anyway, when I took the distributor rotors off I noticed both had cracks emanating outwards from the securing bolts. They also have hairline cracks behind the end of the plastic part where it covers the metal rotor tip. They were working fine before dismantling and I've put araldite on the cracks and am proposing to refit them. Do these rotors ever disintegrate? I'm looking forward to getting it all back together again - the spark plugs looked as if they'd never been changed so very much looking forward to the first trip out to test it.

Geez Beeby, What a shame your in Tanzania. Just got my 100,000km service done with Lew Radbourne on the Gold Coast,my timing belt was showing signs of wear with the wire starting to come through, and both my rotors cracked in several places, another $86.00 flew out of my wallet.Hope everything works out for you and dont forget to click onto the site that Richo put up, you will find it most helpfull.

Thanks guys. I looked up that site - very helpful. I also looked up a site in the USA called Autowarehouse. They had all sorts of parts for an SC400 at good prices - rotors for US$10 each, caps for US$20. Just got to find someone coming this way now! Fortunately we work in the tourism business so we have people coming from all over who are normally happy to help with little bits and pieces.
