| what does the airbox (not the one that houses the filter) on the intake do, its between the AFM and the Throttle, and sits on the dirvers side bank on the V8 see shonky artwork
What happens if i remove it to fit a polished pipe? sound? flow? |

| Have no idea what the technical name is, and dont know a lot about it, but I believe they are quite carefully engineered to minimise noise and flow restriction, so I wouldnt recommend mucking around with it unless you have a PHD in fluid mechanics. |

| see if its just the noise issue then i will probabaly butcher it off, but if its to assist in flow or pressure or some jibberish...... ever revved the engine without the intake pipe attached at all! bloody glorious! yes i know no filter attached, naughty me, but i had to after i sprayed half a can of carb cleaner onto the butterfly |

| Peter Scott has a good write up on Planet Soarer about why it's NOT a good idea to remove it on a V8 Soarer. I can tell ya's it worked wonders on our Mitsi GTO by improving low down torque, but then those fat arse mutha's need all the help they can get.

| those of you that have seen and had a ride in Stu 83's old beast would remember his Aluminium intake pipe and Apexi filter with a bellmouth connection. IT actually worked a lot better than the stock set-up. Noted, the Apexi filter and bellmouth housing most likely had the most affect, but when replcaing it to the stock set-up that car lost power and torque. Cant remember how much, but it was worth noting. So my advise is, if your going for a tuned V8, get a very decent pod and adapter made up, otherwise, like Peter states, you will loose power. Ben |
