I need a bit of help, i'm halfway through doing my first oil change and i can't get the filter off...I don't want to go and buy one of those filter removal things, any suggestions??
I just bought a oil filter relocation kit for $40 off jeff harper, mate better off getting one of these if some one out there has a spare one. Trust me you know how much easier it is now.
Punch a screwdriver through the filter for extra leverage.... and don't over tighten the new filter.... and change it every 5000kms to avoid it binding again.
Will your insurer take our word if we answer that question?

Get a filter tool off Autopro or similar, and smear oil on the rubber seal of the new filter before you put it on. Read the instructions on the filter box re tension. It is not a hard job to change-wont need a relocation kit.
Big flat-blade screwdriver and a rubber mallet. Make an indent in the filter, then turn the screw driver on an angle and keep bashing it. Worked every time on the bike...always overtightened it, bang the crapper out of it with the flat blade or small cold chisel.

If you tighten the new filter up as tight as you can by hand then it will be about right. use some clean oil on the seal when you put it on and all should be ok.

Thanx guys, one of my mate who works on marine generators dropped by tonight with a few tools. It still took us a good 15-20 min to get the bastard off! Everything else went smoothly, and i'm hoping my baby likes the new oil (Mobil One). Thanx for all the help guys!
