i know this cars a piece of crap but here it goes and also know this is a soarer website.
we got a vs commodore that had a miss in it. now we orginally thought it was one of the coil packs so we replaced them and we tested them all and they all sparked. now the car is missing and carrying on and is dropping cyclinder sometimes going as low as 3 cyclinders. we have tested the coil packs again and now the spark seems to be varying. we also replaced all the spark plugs and spark plug leads. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

From memory the V6 Buicks have 3 coil packs joined together. Underneath it is the module which also fails. Another thought is the hall sensor in the harmonic balance. Both are ignition related and are pretty common faults. (normally start failing around the 200K mark.) Hope this helps

hey man the most common thing with the vs is either the crankshaft position sensor, camshaft sensor or the dfi module(under coilpacks) if u hav already replaced plugs and leads and checked coils. has anyone checked for codes with tech one??? or flash coded it?? may even hav a o2 sensor gone, fuel pump is very common too.. i know as i work for holden :S

my mate had a vp commie engine and his completely dropped spark one day. it ended up being the hall effect trigger that gets its signal from the harmonic balancer i think (don't have the book handy ). the trigger is held in by 2 screws and there is a multi toothed vane that is connected to the balancer. the trigger sits either side of the vanes. we found this was slightly out and it ended up chewing at the trigger. replaced the part from a wrecked one on a vn and it solved the problem.
