I've been having trouble with my car lately, when ever i start it up, it would stall straight after. On intial it would reach 1500rpm then continue to drop to 400ish rpm then stall. Ocassionaly it would even struggle to tick over but it usually starts if i wait 30sec after it stalls.
Ive tried changing the battery terminals and reset the ecu but that didnt seem to help. The battery is only 2 months old. Any suggestion for

sounds like the fuel pump ecu.

if you look near the PCV valve, you will see a fuel pressure switch. in the top of it is a philips head screw. when you crank the car, the screw will rise a few mm with the pressure. if it does not rise the fuuel pump is not pumping

to verify , short between FP and B+ on the diagnostic port. use a heavy wire as the current is high. the car will now run with 12v being applied direct to the pump.

Does it only stall on startup and once the engine has warmed up it doesn't stall ie. at lights etc.?

I'm having a similar problem, so let me know if you identify what it is! I have a strong suspicion my problem is battery/battery terminal related though because it only began happening this weekend after RACV replaced a dud battery and is more likely to happen if I have the radio, aircon etc. on.

yep my car did stall at lights and even driving down the freeway, i put that down to a dodgy battery terminal as it hasn't happened since i changed it. Im going to check the icv today to see if the bearing are alrite.

what does it mean if i put the jumper in on FP and B+ (on diagnostics) and start the car, it starts first time.
But if i remove it, it will stall??
does that mean the fuel pump ecu is faulty??

would a faulty fuel pump ecu constantly cause the car to have problems on startup?

Mine is temperamental, sometimes it has issues and then chugs at regular intervals till the car is warm, but sometimes it starts and runs first time perfectly.

lol mine is the same, but i've noticed it is more likely to happen if I have things like aircon, radio, lights etc. switched on and it only ever happens at startup, but idles fine once running.

Does anyone know if this more likely to be a battery/terminal issue or the fuel pump ecu? Or could it be something else completely?

It's Friday, Don is probably saying "Yes" to another round

It's an electronic device, it can be intermittent due to a number of reasons.
Engine ECU can cause rough idle and stalling too and can also be intermittent as can a few other things.

Engine load will always affect idle quality and if there is a problem will exacerbate it.

Hey guys i had a similar problem with my v8. It had the same symptoms and i traced it to the fuel pump control module that sits behind the l/h rear quarter trim. It cost me $170 second hand and it seemed to eliminate the problem. Due to it having a heat sink, i think its operation could play up due to different temps.
