Vortex Gold is actually a MINIMUM 96 octane.

You have to read the fine print carefully as Shell Optimax is UP TO 98 octane and BP Ultimate is MINIMUM 98 octane.

These things are tested all the time by a variety of consumer groups and ofcourse the servo's themselves.

I use Vortex Gold (Minimum 96) in my Soarer and it doesnt have any problems at all. The reason i use it is because i work at Caltex and its not as much of a rip off as other "premium" fuels. 7c/L more expensive than regular.

Whether its Ultimate, Optimax or Synergy 8k i havent had any problems on the standard toyota fuel or timing maps.

I think its got to do with the volume of fuel the station goes through more than anything, fresh fuel is good fuel!

I run Mobil Premium ULP in mine. No worries.
Shell Optimax is sh it in motor bikes-lots of starting issues.
I wonder if Soarers will run on Bull Sh it- there seems to be enough on here to run all our cars.

i find in my twin turbo that bp ultimate works the best not fussed on the 4c litre off fuel is fuel gets wasted quick neways prolly save like $2 a tank wen its prolly cost most cars $2 to find which station has the cheapest fuel. by the best i mean it seems to run a lot smoother and feels like it has a little more kick whist driving optimax makes it feel a little sluggish through the gears.
