An interesting thing occurred to me today. . I realised there is a &^$% load of white smoke billowing out of the exhaust. It's only slight when I start the car then as soon as it warms up it's worsens. There is no smoke coming out on boost nor while driving at normal rev ranges but at idle and whilst taking slowish corners it's just embarrassing! Fearing the worst, so anyone who seems to have had this problem before please offer your opinion..

Maybe some smart poured oil in the exhaust and filled the muffler.

Valve stem seals will usually puff blue smoke on start-up and progressively get worse with more mileage; don't think it sounds like that unless they are really bad. Valve stem seals are normally noticed a long time before they get too bad, particularly if the car is normally garaged; a garage full of smoke just after starting the car is hard to miss.

hehehe . . True true, like I mentioned it's just slight on start up, and progressively worsens, I can't do anything till next week anyhow, so I'll let you know who ended up with the right diagnosis . . could even be the gremlins! :o)

Black smoke is usually the engine running too rich, blue smoke is usually burnt oil, white smoke is usually steam from condensation in the exhaust if only near startup or water/coolant from a blown head gasket.

Seeing as it gets worse as the car warms up, my money is on a BHG and any associated damage eg cracks in the head etc.

Possibly a combination of valve stems and rings for blue smoke and/or BHG for white.
Valve stems are not a real problem unless really bad; a bit of top end lube never hurts

Turbos have been known to drop oil into engines.
I'd start there.
Got to pull 'em off first if you're going to strip an engine anyway.

Could just be the oil mate lol. I had the same problem. I drained the old oil out and put in a 'different' brand of oil in it. Now it has Penrite hpr10, before it was Castrol.

This is my story:

and there's a vid of what mine did...

The smoke in that vid is definitely blue oil smoke, not white.

Justin, I used your story as a "landmark" case and already changed the oil it HPR10, hoping that it was the problem since it sounded like a similar thing, unfortunately it's still doing it.. If only that's all it was!

Taking it in on Monday to be totally checked out.. here's hoping
