Interestingly enough, I'm getting that same mileage with 95 octane fuel (i.e. premium unleaded). From that, saved myself 5-7 cents a litre. |

Will: down on power you are. My totally stock soarer (until tomora when i get teh FMIC and cat back on) does "roughly" 550k's for 70ltrs. I use 70ltrs instead of the TT full tank of "78ltrs" because thats about whats left in the tank a day after the little fuel pump comes up on the screen The majority of my K's are with the car being cold, driving to work/from to home etc which is a 5 minute trip so i don't believe the car can properly warm up. I honestly think the fuel consump could get better ofcourse if the car was warm for more of my trip (running leaner). To be honest atm im not worried because i only need to fill up twice a month ;) And yes, i use BP98

Will, Glad your gettting good Mileage out of your 95 fuel, but you do realise these things were meant to be run on 100 right? So therefore 98 is as close as we can get! Although you may be saving whatever coins per week, im guessing your losing valuable power too mate! Oh, and im not worried about paying however much per litre, as long as it runs good and solid and wont lean out or detonate and melt something inside my baby's engine, Im a very happy man!

I understand that they were designed to run on 100 octane fuel. 98 would be good, but it's still too expensive. My car has been strong and reliable and hasn't been missing a beat at all. Regarding the power stakes, I only need it when I need it. I drive my car with a fairly light pedal. Must be getting older. I'm preferring my cruise capabilities with the car at the moment. I also did a check the other day and filled her right up on 95 and took it for a long drive. Got 163kms on 9 litres of fuel. Admittedly it was on a 45 minute journey down the freeway (one way), and some driving around when I got there, but so far it's been good.

Well, fuel in NZ went up another 6 cents per litre today - a total of 12 cents in the last week! Now over $1.719 per litre for 95. Apparently its expected to be over $2 by xmas.

I just heard on the news report this morning that they're expecting fuel costs to go up to as much as $1.50. And it's gonna be this way for at least the next 2 years. Damn the "stand-off" between Iran and the US. You know this is the second part of the "Axis of Evil".

Nah, America might rattle their hypocritical anti-nuclear sabres at North Korea, Pakistan et al, but in the end, they don't have any oil or other useful resources, so America will leave them alone to merrily fission away. Iran however, could very well be screwed as they have a tone of oil that the US would love to get hold of.

*gets out shovel* Im doing 13L/100kms or 7km/L for country driving and 15L/100kms or 6.5km/L for regular city driving (alot of stop starting). Thats with a rich tune and a bunch of mods (1.1bar) and equates to ~400-450kms between buys on Ultimate. Will; if you are going to be tuning your car then you would definately want the highest octane fuel money can buy, mainly because you lessen the chance of a misfire which hurts.

| Well citizens, I'm pleased to report that I filled the Soarer (UZZ30) up this evening (my Monthly fill up), and it's used 56.03litres of 95 for the month. It's my daily driver and I do 400kms a month of 80% city driving, with the balance a brief 80kph blatt just before work. Which according to my calculations means I'm using 7.139litres per 100kms, which is pretty darn good. But as previously stated, I do drive somewhat Nanarishly, but always at or a few kays over the posted limit. And I'm well pleased to report that my fuel gauge is 100% accurate.......as in: The car had just dropped to 22litres left in the tank when I filled up with 95, and I got 56.03litres in (filled right to the brim as I always do). It's always felt a quick car, and has performed flawlessly over the 1&1/2 years we've had it (apart from the Fp ECU thing when we first got it!). The engine is dead quiet, with no tappet noise, or any other non-original noises for that matter (it's just clicked over 140kms) and the car is dead stock, as in: Standard exhausts, standard airbox & snorkle thingo, and I'm quite happy to keep it that way. One day I'll lift the carpets and find that the old boy who owned it shoved a MiNes ECU in there LOL!.

I am quite thrifty with fuel.... I usually take public transport to my office instead of drive --- a parking spot there would be HK$3200 a month or US$400. And gas costs HK$13 (USD1.75) per liter. Furthermore, the average length of a straight piece of road in Hong Kong is about 200 meters, which is often occupied by gridlock... sighhhhhhhhhh That said, I'm bonding very well with my Soarer as I love to admire it sitting there in my parkade at home.... :P
