I think I have worked out why some of us were talking lately about the Cruise cancelling itself when driving..

I beleive it is because,,, We bumped the bloody HANDBRAKE handle with our legs.. This will turn off the cruise and throw up a Kligon message..

So it's NOT the car,,,it's the Operator :-)

It will also drop out if it perceives a heavier-than- normal load on the engine, for example if the cruise speed is set rather high (140kph) and you strike a relatively steep hill. (figures are just examples).

I have spare cruise boxes and may have harness but don't have the actuator setup spare.

I have never had cruise drop out. Wouldn't it just change down if the engine load gets too much??

Usually but sometimes changing down and even unlocking converter isn't enough to maintain speed within 2kph of set speed wich I forgot to say is the trigger for dropping cruise out.

When we bought our Snoarer in Nov.2004, I tried the cruise, once, to see if it worked....it did, and I haven't touched it since.
Mainly coz I like to do me own driving, if ya know what I mean. But I'm sure that if we's lived in Oz with the super-doozy highways, it would come in handy

I had mine drop out once for no reason when i tried to engage it @ 60kph.

Got the car to 60kph and tapped the switch to set and then let my foot off the accelerator, a second or so later my brain picks up that the car is slowing down and I look down at the dash to check the speed.

At that point I noticed the flashing green A/D light followed by no green A/D light and a loud bong complete with large red A/D on the bottom of the dash.

Couldn't get it to switch back on until I stopped and restarted the car,

Your roads are all bent, Don. I couldn't stand not having cruise, and as a taller person I find the angle of the leg on the accelerator pedal makes for cramps. I could have used cruise on our recent sojourn in Kiwi, especially on the mainland:-)

Sorry to bring up an old thread:

Michael: On the way to work I had this exact thing happen to me. I havnt had time to check it out yet. Did you end up resolving the problem? Any hints on what to look out for?

I have the same problem too. My mechanic can't figure it out either.

I'm not THAT fussed though, cruise is pretty homo.

My cruise sometimes drops out as well. Its usually when i hit the 'resume' button where the cruise fails to resume the designated set speed.

If your speed drops below 38 kph, then the cruise will clear the memory of the previously set speed.

I use cruise a lot mainly to ensure I don't get a ticket.
At first it wouldn't work most of the time until I set the steering wheel at a certain position; it was either full in or full out - can't remember which - but since then it's worked all the time. Not sure if there was a loose connection down the column somewhere.

The "Resume" switch can be a little dodgy in my experience. I have never had it drop out while engaged. I use it a lot for inter-city travel and simply driving up the local 100km/h road I have to Canberra's centre. It enables you to maximise your distance over time without being booked.

As well as the absolute 38k/h which Dan mentioned, there may be a second switch which cuts it out if you drop more than 20km/h below your set speed; some number like that.

On country trips, I can "resume" from doing 50-60kph through a town and have it take me back to 110 (or whatever) kph.

I use mine all the time, as soon as I get to the speed limit, it's on. If it's very congested traffic i don't use it, but by avoiding peak hour traffic I usually get reasonable traffic flow to go with.
