Guys I need some advice. I'm looking at a TT that has been converted to manual using the manual transmition from a half cut manual TT. The guy that owns the car said he did it himself as he is an engineer but is not able to provide an engineers certificate. He is running an auto ECU so his got the ECT light on.
He told me that changing the gears requires a firm push into the next gear. Is this normal? Can I get some feed back guys. What should I expect from the TT manual transmision? I haven't driven a manual for about 3 1/2 years so I want to take some one with me to test drive it. What should I look for?
Manual conversion doesn't require engineers certificate in NSW (not sure about Vic) as it was available as an option from the factory. This might be why he doesn't have one.

If the gearbox is an R154, they can be a little firm changing gears, but you should not have to push it. You only should need to apply pressure to the gear change then you should feel the gateway open when the box is ready, and it should slip straight into gear. If its really any harder then that you might want to get somebody else to drive it before buying.
