Brett,
I am also to the point of trying an AFM.
Just need to get my hands on one.

Ok I have tried another AFM and the car is still bucking around upon removing the foot from the Accelerator! What next?

Question: When the butterfly is closed in the throttle body mine has a gap of approx. 1/2mm between the butterfly and the body. Is this correct or should it be completely sealed?

TB butterfly should be 100% sealed when closed.

Lots of the time they get gummed up and stick open.
Other times the car starts behaving badly so owners adjust the stopper to open them up a little.

Clean the ISCV
Clean the TB
Reset the TB to be 100% closed.
Readjust the TPS to read IDL at closed.
Make sure there are NO leaks between the AFM and the plenum.

Your car will behave perfectly.

Thanks Andrew. I have cleaned ISCV and TB but how and where is the adjustment to close the butterfly so there is no gap? Mine has a gap all the way around the butterfly valves.

Its under the TRAC black cover from memory.

Small 8mm or so nut with a bolt in it, that you have to adjust with a small allan key.

Isn't that the idle adjust?

There is no idle adjust on the 1UZ.

There is an adjustment of the throttle stop, which people adjust when they shouldn't.

My mistake Andrew. New question. Isn't that the throttle stop?

Yes, the throttle stop.

People adjust it when the idle goes low because of gummed up throttle plate or gummed up ISCV.

Thanks mate. I'll have a play when I next get a chance. I'll post up results - hopefully good!
