Sup Peeps,

I just got my 93 2.5TT serviced & when i got it back i noticed there are a few problems that weren't there prior to its service. As far as im concerned my mechanic did something to cause these problems thought id ask the pros. Here are my probs?
1) The airconditioner button is flashing ive read the FAQs and did a diagnostic check but no codes or anything appeared. Where are the codes displayed? (dash display??)Anyone know the source of this problem & wether its coinc9idence or human error on the mechanics part.
2)Tranmission clicks when putting her in drive. Never used to. Dont really know a whole lot about transmissions in general so dont know how to find the problem or wether my mechanics at fault. I beleive its the first Soarer they've worked on and they more than likely unitentionaly hurt my baby.
To cut a short story long. It cost me an arm and a leg for the service & i want to make sure my baby is running good and would rather they fix those probs that weren't there prior to service save mes time, more time to work on the Soarer.
Any help would be mucho appreciated.

PEACE OUT

Welcome Chris,

I'm sorry I can't help you there but someone will be with you shortly I'm sure.

Until then you can have a look in the Soarer Diagnostics section for the A/C problem.

Probably using the wrong transmission fluid.
Take it back and say its not supposed to be dextron 2.

Sounds like the culprit.
Cheers,
Cihan.

Dexron II is fine for TT auto boxes. It's the V8 that doesn't like it.

what Simon has said is correct the type iv myth only applies to the V8`s.do not put in type iv if you have a tt.
as allways i use and reccomend synthetic oil in the tranny but its best coupled with a shift kit and oil cooler.

from memory the flashing means low or no gas left in system.

mine clicks also.. its possible you started noticing it after you suspected fault on mechanics part.we allways seem to notice things more when we are suspicious.:-)

Hmm seems like it could be a number of things. Run out of gas is possible but wouldnt it give me a warning light or something when it gets low or empty. I did the AC diagnostics check and saw nothing which leads me to think it didnt do a diagnostic check.
My guess is it was accidently unplugged.
How and where do i check the AC gas? so i can eliminate that possiblity.

Cheers guys,
What would i do without you guys.

Gday Chris,
I'd be interested to know where you got it serviced.
I had the same prob with the aircon, ended up being the compressor with me the leak was overlooked and fixed much lateralong with the correct gas. My mechanic at the time said that that red light could mean a few things such as low gas/pressure, compressor not working well (bearing?) as well as electrical faults. There is a viewing window, for a quick check yourself, go under the bonnet, just to the left of the right headlight as you look at the car from the front is a metal pipe with a small round window. Clean the window if you need to and see if it has bubbles. It shouldn't!! ))
I'm no mechanic and it was a while ago so the details are fading sorry.

i had the same light flashing problem with my old soarer vintage (1991) the problem turned out to be a seized clutch in the AC compressor, run the car with AC going and touch the compressor to see how hot it gets, if it gets hot you know its a seized clutch \DONT RUN AC , you can get them reconditioned} i dont know the cost
hope this helps

The compressor is bound to get hot, just touch the high pressure line coming out of the compressor (its the thinner one), it will be bloody hot! When you compress something it heats up.
perhaps the question is how hot?
Yes Please!

Speaking to michael at mv autos a few weeks ago, he said toyota type IV for the TT box if it has no shift kit, and dexron III if it has shift kit. He said there is some problem with the a340 with the valve body that toyota type IV fixes, but michaels modified body requires dexron III.
