Hi all as I now have tt brakes, tein shocks, vft bushes and nice fat tyres, I'll be doing some track days. So this leads me to the question. I want to moniter the oil temp/pressure, water temp, gear box temp. Is there one display that will do all and fit in the dash ( under sterio pref ) and would prefer not to use the car's ecu but indervidual sencers (sorry for spelling)

I am looking at gauges for my other car, Lars, and I doubt there's one gauge which will cover all the information you want, in one gauge. The oil temp and pressure require separate gauges (and senders) while the transmission temp requires another sender again, from a different place (where, I'm not quite sure, the transmission, obviously!). The water temp is yet another gauge with sender. So there are 4 gauges. I believe there are "4-in-one" gauges but they tend to be larger than the 1 DIN or so 52mm gauges, and probably won't cover the inputs you want.
There's a US-made "trip computer" which can read out a few temps from the ECU (if you have an OBDII port, which is unlikely as only '96 and on Soarers have them). Look up "ScanGaugeII" for further info.
For interest I'm looking at oil pressure, EGT and trans temp (for a turbodiesel) for a triple pod.

I can get my hands on a digital gauge. Basically a smaller version of our dashboards.
It does, speed, rpm, oil temp and pressure for how ever many senders you have, like wise for cylinder head and water temp. Also measures boost and has data logging capabilities. Basically it'l measure whatever you want it to, just push a button to scroll through the display.

Lars, you will fit three gauges in a DIN panel under a single DIN stereo. You could cover oil pressure, temp and trans temp, while going digital for the water temp. As suggested by Mark Paddick in another thread, Autospeed and Jaycar have a small digital gauge for around $40 which could be mounted in a lot of places. The main issue with them as I see it is mounting the probe- it requires a compression fitting which is not commonly available. They (Autospeed) give a phone no. for a place which supplied theirs but they have no website and haven't answered my email (I'm looking at one to measure temp in my air/water intercooler for the Wizard, when I ever fit it). Here's the link to Autospeed: http://autospeed.drive.com.au/A_0807/cms/article.html

If you don't mind spending a few $$ go for a Defi control unit, the sensors you want and the display unit. You can set audible alarms if any of the senors exceed a preset threshold.
Thanks to mine I found out just how quickly the engine oil in a V8 can exceed 120 degrees. If you are going to do trackdays it'd be a good idea to fit an oil cooler and an in-line thermostat.

Sure thing mate. When are you in Sydney next? My car will be in and out of the workshop over the next month but we'll work something out. Just PM me with your details.
