I surrender, give up and admit defeat, I have just read more Mycroft than any previously sane person should in one sitting/lifetime ever. My brain hurts, a lot. The last straw was the parallel threads of having mortgaged his house to buy new Toyota LCA's and then saying he uses and recommends Vlamos bushes on his LCA's.
I know Churchill described Russia as "A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma". Iain is at least as confounding. He writes with authority about things he has never seen except in his imagination and then with equal authority completely contradicts himself. Sometimes his english is impeccable and the next post looks like it was translated from Urdu by Babelfish.
The really frustrating thing is the man genuinely knows enough to be an asset to any Soarer forum if he could only stick to writing about facts instead of confabulating disinformation and unbelievable bollocks as the mood takes him. It devalues the good stuff by forcing us to sift through the facile fantasies.
I for one do not want to go back there anymore ever, does the man have a fix for seat clunk or is his tutorial going to lead to an all day journey of confusion as reality collides with fiction. I will never know. I need some Panadine and a good rest. Sorry but anyone else is welcome to go look for it but I warn you your head could explode.
If I took one thing away from this exercise in frustration it is that Soarer Central should have a rule we all stick to what we know when it comes to Soarers and not end up in wonderland with nutters spouting nonsense on any subject that takes their fancy.

Roger.......you have our highest regards for attempting the improbable........let alone the highly unlikely.
I concur with your findings........either the man is a complete "Plonker", or some parts are missing.
Seriously......."Doo laley", as our good friend Billy Conolley would surmise, OR he's a genious.......it remains, dear reader for YOU to assertain which .

On a more serious note, there is a Toyota Tech publication (google will find it using text from the paragraph below) that is relevant. This may be a clue as to what worked for Juzza pre-prang. It is password protected so sorry about the JPG format. It expains earlier in the document that coolant temperature adjusts advance up to 20 degrees. A viable launch booster could be as simple as temporarily fiddling the coolant temperature input to make the engine look cold to the ECM until escape velocity is reached. This could also explain fast versus sluggish takeoffs as the engine warms up, or not.

Justin
Are you saying that you remember the Mycroft mod you tried was done solely via the Diag Port?
Otherwise coolant temperature is much easier to modify the sensor output to make it look stone cold. +B drop could be readily done but might need a lot more electronics/effort. Coolant temp we are talking a resistor and a switch.

This explains why some cars with suspect thermostats really seem to go well in cold conditions (mine included). I think there are two temp sensors, one for the gauge and one for ECU. I'll do some checking.
