Neil advises Juzza that the W58 will handle a blown V8 or 200rwkw. It seems from threads I searched that an R154 is necessary for "high 200s". Neither box is there to be abused and I do not go drag racing or do burnouts. I have never bothered trying for the quickest possible takeoff with a manual, probably because the cars I used to own were apt to fry clutches under pressure. An auto is more easily quick off the mark but I am more interested in how it drives after it starts moving. Once you are moving, a stock auto feels sloppy as you go on and off the throttle. Five gears rather than four would be nice, too.

Shift kit has been under consideration for a while. Who has the 5 sp auto? Button shift? e.g. the type sitting behind my 2JZGE?

if i could get full controll of the auto so it shifts when i want it to then i would leave it there.
in saying that there are aftermarket tranny ecus out there that will do what i want it to do. in doing so you could also run apexi power fc using this ecu.
there are possibilites out there..

Very late model US SC400 had VVTi V8 and 5speed auto as do SC430.
Ther are quite a few possibilties for manual control but most won't work with the standard ECU; not necessarily a bad thing.

Also roughly how long would it take for the conversion just might have to start saving some money?

Just got back to the office today (waaa). I can't express how much more enjoyable my car is to drive after the manual conversion whether it's tootling along Military Rd in heavy traffic or out on a twisty road it's a blast. I have to keep reminding my fiance to use a gear higher than she would in her Barina because it has that much usable torque you can crawl along at 25km/h in 3rd gear the smoothly pull away. My clutch is a bit too light because it needs more clamping force but even with a heavier clutch it'll be fine in traffic.

Thanks for that comment Damien. I was in Military Road at 1.15 today so I know exactly the conditions
