Ok I have asked this question before and I have searched on the forums as well, but ...
Some guys here say 10W30, some say other oils.
Autobarn says something thicker beecause my car has done 160.000km

Whats the real answer. 10W30, 10W40, 10W50, 15W-40?
Also can I use a Repco/Valvoline oil filter or does it have to be Toyota?

Good to hear from someone who wants to look after their engine! Don't feel bad about asking, the info is in the old ALSC forum archive, but not all in one place and not obvious to find unless you recall the discussion or like reading a lot of irrelevant posts.
I would recommend Penrite HPR Semi-Synthetic 15W-40 around $25 to $30 as a proven choice of engine oil for a 1UZFE. It seems to particularly suit the engine design with reduced weeping from seals, good engine performance and economy and easy to find at Repco etc. There are lots of other very good oils but some cost a lot more and perform worse, others are as good but change formulation every few months.
There are only two oil filters worth considering, First the real Japanese OEM plastic and resin reinforced glass fiber monoblock filter specifically designed for the engine and definitely the best choice. Leaves your oil looking like honey.
Toyota/Lexus ex Japan about $35 to $40 or usually ex stock in NZ - Baaaaaagggnnnnaal, stop gloating!
And then there is the more conventional pleated glass paper Toyota Denso unit made in Thailand. Good, but inferior to the 90915-20004 filter. Part number: 90915-YZZD4
Toyota/Lexus in stock usually $25 to $35
Don't compromise on filters! There is a huge difference in performance and life between a 90915-20004 and a non genuine one, price is no guide either.
You did not ask about air filters. Use only the genuine Toyota air filter. There is a measurable 1-2 KW improvement on a dyno compared to after-market units and dirt filtration is streets ahead. They cost about $10 more.
