Actually Michael I'm looking at replacing the original speakers in all 4 doors, not the tweeters though.
you thinking WTF??? how many doors?
It's a celsior and I'm after nice clean sound with a bit of guts but no huge doof doof
I also need 8" woofer as the original is shagged
If I'm happy with the sound I will leave the head unit as is. If not.....well then its going to be a can of worms New HU new amps new wiring, getting dizzy already
BTW I love your 32. getting it from the anal King means its perfect!!! lucky you :-)
my celsior here

Greg that looks sweet as mate!
As for decent 4" speakers, I'm going to beat Mark to it and recommend the Jaycar Response line. To many people are ready to write them off without actually hearing them first. I've done a few installs using them and everyone was more than happy with the results.

Cheers Greg, the 32 is going well as you would expect being from Hayden. I have to say your Celsior looks the business, the wheels are phat and the mufflers set it right off.
In regards to the 4" speakers, the best I have heard by a long shot are the Phass Alnico splits http://www.phass.com/esp-32.html#A445 but they will cost you a pretty penny and it means replacing the tweeter as well. They do have a couple of 4" full range drivers which run from 80Hz-20kHz which would suit your install with an 8" sub nicely. Don't let their appearance fool you, they are a very capable and natural sounding speaker. http://www.phass.com/esp-82.htm#FD0496 There are two types here, one with an alnico magnet the other with a ferrite magnet, I would go with the former.
The only other 4" speakers I have heard are from Alpine and Pioneer and while they are ok they are not going to blow your socks off with their sound quality.
Don Bagnall Moderator New Zealand I have WAY less Soarers than Hayden :-(

Thanks I will check them out individually. Michael, tweeters sound nice and crisp so at this stage I would rather not replace them. Those speakers look interesting 89db is efficient enough.
Don was the original many years ago 2 ohm pioneer too?

Ahahahahahahahaha, you crack me up good Don! In case you are being serious, they are speakers that cost about 6 times more than quite a few other brands and only sound marginally better
