I'm after advice on a sound system setup for my soarer. Basically I'm building a car PC setup that is going to use a Zalman USB sound card to drive a signal to 2 amps, one 4 channel for the front and rear speakers which are 4" and 6x9" respectively and one 2 channel amp for the factory sub. Basically I've found this amp on ebay,
Which I've seen that another member is using to run the factory sub. What I'm after is opinions on the quality i'll get from this and also what is a half descent 4 channel amp for the other speakers. I'm not after thumping sound, just normal listening.

That amp can't drive the factory sub. The amp needs to be 2 ohm stable....very rare in cheap amps. With 6 x9 's in the rear, what do you need a sub for???

Car came with 6x9 speakers and didn't have a choice with factory sub as it came with the parcel shelf i needed as a replacement. So 2 6x9" speakers would pump just as hard as a 10" sub?

In my experience 6x9z and subs don't like each other very much. Lose them and get some decent 5.25-6" in lieu. I'd even go so far as to say that if this means a new parcel shelf, then so be it.
6x9z go hard, but very few pack the goods in the SQ department.

i am running 6x9s pioneers and two 10" pioneer subs and i have never had a prob with them, in fact they both are about 5 years old and still pumping hard.

Ok, I've been mis-understood again
Probably should explain myself better.
From an audio engineering point of view... NEVER run woofers of differing sizes as sound quality WILL be effected. A 6x9 is so near a full on woofer its not funny. Running them with a sub will go hard and loud, but doesn't come close to a decent set of the afformentioned sizes in the quality department.
I have built LOTS and LOTS of car stereo systems, home theatre systems and done some PA work, ergo am more than qualified to say take what i have just written as gospel, ok?

Yes and No.. The sub will have a MUCH LOWER frequency.. The 6x9's, when amplified, will be 'loud' and have very good MID range.
I don't 'totally' agree with what Ben is saying about 6x9's.. its a little generalised (no offense dude) as I believe (and experienced many times) that decent 6x9's with the correct amp, tuned to the correct frequency, will give a better MID range response to most 5".. however, I do agree that by just 'slapping' a set of 6x9's on any given amp is disasterous and tends to 'cloud' the sound image more than anything!! And I do also agree that from a 'pure SQ' point of view that 6x9's are not that way to go.. but for a 'Street' set-up there is definitely nothing wrong with 6x9's, so long as they are used in the correct application..
All in all, if I had my way, it would be 6" Splits up front, 2-way 6" in rear and 2 10" in boot.. This will all happen when my EMV gets fixed!!

haha funny listening to you guys. I'm like tone deaf when it comes to audio setups, but show me engine management or anything mechanical and i'll give you my professional opinion.
I got a 5 channel amp off ebay coming this week, my carpc setup is running on the bench, just waiting on a few small parts, like cables, cardbus adapter, antennas and crap like that and i'll fire it up.
