The Car: 1995 Lexus Soarer Ltd The Location: Bournemouth Sea Front (UK) Date : 8th November 2006
So what does the MAP button do?
It provides GPS Navigation display whilst you carry on listening to the Soarer Hifi
And provides full UK and European Navigation from a DVD Disc.
This system provides turn-by-turn voice guidance with 3D split screen modes and more.....
Voice guidance is via the Soarer hifi speakers and is fully adjustable
And also features full Post Code search
Route options....
Full Points of interest options....
Navigation conversions to the EMV screen do not suffer from battery failure, lack of clarity due to small screen size, poor guidance volume, loss of GPS signal etc that the portable unit can have, and they are not visible to the thief!

Aftermarket Navigation units use remote controls for operation . Vlads touchscreen interface cannot be used in this installation as the unit does not connect via the 'TV' input.
Below is the same navigation system fitted to the SC430

I connect the aftermarket units through the same input used by the factory unit. The EMV top 3 L/H buttons can then be used to switch between normal EMV functions and Sat/Nav etc. And the EMV touch screen is active in this state so it can be used with the aftermarket Sat/Nav; Interfacing the EMV touch screen with the aftermarket Sat/Nav was always the problem but with Vlads' new kit that should be easier. I haven't tried that way yet.

Vlad >> 'Currently when the Soarer TV is selected for viewing (or the initial TV screen after power on) *the touch screen does not operate*, as there are no user menus to control. I took advantage of that and made the touch screen to accept touch events in this state'
