I agree with Baggs, you really need to listen to them both before making a decision. Infact listen to as many brands as you can in your price range.
While the Jaycar stuff has a good rep as being high on the "bang for your buck" scale, I am not a huge fan of them. Price is only one aspect of many that need to be considered. I have heard RF gear and quite like it for most music types and would probably go them over Jaycar but my perception of sound will differ to yours, hence why you need to listen to them yourself.

oh sweet. i'll look into the too. my first preference is rockford tho because my mate fully decked his commodore out with them and it sounds heaps good! and i'm not looking for that blow your head apart bass, i want quality but still that slight kick from the sub

Jaycar speakers are good for SPL and general non-directional music. Best bang for your buck as you can say, but they are no where near Rockford Fosgate quality.
If you listen to songs with alot of vocals where sound quality and high fidelity are important I would go for RF amp/sub combination.
If all you want to do is shake the windows of the shops as you park in front of them, the same amount of money will get you there with Jaycar.
That said, I have a Jaycar amp powering a pioneer sub. For the front splits you should look for something more refined.
