I think it was a faulty harness because I did away with the ISO to Sony one and rewired using the one supplied with the head unit. Clips down in the white bottom thing were also a bit loose so that could have been it.
Its only FM that you need the expander for isn't it? Hence the band expander would have been working fine.
When I plug the large input I can only pickup AM, and when i hold the small input in I can only pickup FM.

If you've got a multimeter handy, check that you've got +12V when the radio is on at the blue wires of the Toyota to Iso harness, should be two terminals, one piggy backed off the other.

Should be able to borrow a multimeter tomorrow. What is this testing for?
Both the antenna inputs work, they just only carry either AM or FM signals. If worse comes to worse I'll just somehow fix the FM antenna into the head unit. I use AM about once a year when there is some sports broadcast that I'm missing on TV.

I believe it's called a Diversity antenna system. One aerial does powerful short range signals and the other weak distant signals. Importantly, you should change both with high quality expanders. See "Soarer Central>Common Fixes>Fix for FM Radio - Expanders for EMV equipped Soarers" for "with what and how". As far as I was aware the same fix works for both EMV and non-EMV Soarers.

Forget expanders they are poor at best. Do the proper conversion that every soarer deserves and it will give perfect reception along with english text on the screen. (I'm sure you all know by now the benefits of the Vlad's radio conversion if not do a search and all will be revealed.)
For guys that don't have the 31/32's neat radio unit I personally would run the New Zealand expander they seem to be the best from the few that I have tested.

Well I can only pick up AM on the big one which fits, and FM on the small one which slips out. I dont have an EMV just the CD player that I put in. Ive managed to get the small cable to stick in but the sound is too soft. Might have to go for a new antenna install or something.
