There's often gains in sound quality to be had out of putting sound deadening material in car doors.
Does this apply to a Soarer as well?

Any gain in quality is a good gain.

Oh, and how about around the speakers in the back? Is it worth considering?

I've found that adding a bit of sound absorbing material (speaker damping material) inside the front door speaker boxes helps with both the standard spealers and especiall aftermarket.
If you've got large aftermarket drivers then extra damping can make the box appear larger to the speaker.
I reckon the rear speakers should be boxed too, like the front ones, to prevent them being pumped by the sub. I currently just have mine covered with a thick layer of damping material (rear of speaker) whichhelps but is not as good as a box. The same size box as the fronts should do or a bit larger.
Filling the space above and beside the petrol tank with damping material helps too, stops the 'boxy' reverbrating sound.
Actually adding sound deadening to the doors, floor etc doesn't seem to br necessary.

Benny, you aren't reffering to Brown Bread and stuff like that are you? Brown Bread is only one of the brands that make sound deadening for cars. I have never seen it, but from what I hear, it is sort of like a hard tar based "stick on" mat that you put on the inside metal of your door skin. This is supposed to make the door skins, boot skin, boot lid, and sometimes firewall less flexible, thereby making the car seem less flexible as a whole. When the car is less flexible, and the metal cannot vibrate, sound cannot escape as easily by vibrating the metal. This has 2 effects. It improves sound quality from less road noise (Not really a problem in Soarers), and it also gives a higher DB reading.

It is quite heavy though, and changes the sound things make, such as closing the car door sounds more solid (Also, not something that is a problem for Soarers, but usually on older cars that have a bit of a clunk when you close the door due to thin sheet metal used as door skins). Anything more than that, I don't know.

Have a read here, I was using this stuff 12 years ago with great success in the car to dampen secondary acoustics.

I'm probably not going to do the doors since they are heavy enough with double-magnet speakers in them and I was hoping that other material than the tar stuff was available by now.
I hate that stuff.

Manny, how heavy is this stuff? It sounds good.

It's not feather light but by no means heavy - there are varying grades/weights which were proportional to cost from memory.

Really good stuff, at least as effective as the heavy, messy, tar filled stuff.
