Well I was a bit over the stock sound system in my Soarer, so after much reading and browsing I purchased my new setup, which consist of
6" Fusion Splits front and rear 10" Pioneer "Free Air" Sub 300w Pioneer Amp 4g power cables
So I've had the past week off work on holidays, so I decided it would be a good time to strip the car and put the new stereo in. At first I was going to keep everything stealth, retaining the stock covers but the Pioneer sub would not fit without using a 32mm spacer... which then the stock cover wouldn't fit, so I went all out with some 16mm MDF, Cardboard for the mock up, a Jigsaw and a few other choice powertools, and this was the result
and in the car...
the reasoning for the tweeters being in different spots was the rear metal shelf had some aerial thing that I didn't want to remove just in case..
you cant even tell but the sub actually sits 16mm higher then the splits ..
the 6" fusion splits in the front door are behind the stock trims still just on a MDF board screwed into the stock speaker box mounting holes... but the new tweeters where too big to fit behind the stock covers, so I had some triangle shaped backing pillow looking things made up to cover the stock hole...
All in all the new setup sound alot clearer and louder then the stock setup, even though I retained the stock 4chan amp for the splits, and it now has bass you can actually feel, I'm quite happy with it now

Honestly I don't find the sound system in mine too bad, epesh for stock. I must say the install looks alright, been toying around with the idea of doing something similar myself. Does the parcel shelf felt stuff just come off in one peice you can use as a template? Is the space for the sub big enough for a 12"? I remember hearing its not and you'd have to cut it out.

Honestly i've been thinking about the parcel shelf as my first mock up fibreglass project, been reading up on fibreglass and wanted to do something. Already got some tricky LED ideas. Is an open sub good enough/are there subs designed for opperation outside of a box? I know they all work but are there subs designed specifically as most are designed to be boxed.

I think thats very nice Justin. I was thinking of doing the same thing but I put it off because I was not sure of the mdf cutout, since the corners of the shelf is curved up, so that threw me off a little.
