Hi,
I'm just about to buy an EMV soarer, and am interested in the feasibility of installing an iPod into the centre console. The main question is is there an AUX connecter on the standard EMV soarer?

Ther was a factory option for an A/V connector. It is usually found inside the centre console. It is Mono sound only though (unless it's a post '96 car). There are instructions on connecting a DVD player to the TV input on the FAQ site. The same setup can be used for iPod.

If you get the Radio conversion done, I believe you get a couple of extra AV inputs to use, so all you need to do would be to run a cable from the unit to the centre console. You even get to use the tone and volume controls from the EMV.
At least thats my plan for when I get the radio conversion done on mine.
There is NO other way into the EMV system. TV input or nothing unless you want FM modulator or tape connverter which are both cheap and nasty although there are some very good FM modulators available.

Hi Andrew, I wired my iPod into the TV inputs and fed the wire under the carpet into the bin between the seats so the iPod just plugs in there. Excellent result, very happy with it. Tried the FM transmitter first but was very disappointed with it. I also put a new battery in my iPod myself - piece of piss, costs about $60 and takes about 10-15 minutes.

I'm having my Ipod connection installed on Monday. Clarion and others now have a connection that will make it possible to use the radio controls/remote to control the IPod.

got woodgrain? looks real nice benny! mmmmm woodgrain.... I just have my ipod connected with a stereo (headphone plug) to RCA adapter and plugged into the back of my panasonic headunit. when i am using it i just sit the ipod in the centre console cup holder, its a perfect fit. When im not using it i just unplug the cable and pop it in my pocket.

I've got the same set up as Benny.
Aftermarket headunit, here is a pic.
From the back of the headunit I have a cable going to my glovebox where you connect the iPod. It powers/charges the headunit and I have full control over the iPod VIA the headunit controls.
No need for 100's of CD's in the car, I just get outta the car and remove the ipod

I was thinking about the new iPod video would be a good candidate to test with my EMV IR interface. Unfortunately it doesn’t display the user interface on the TV screen, which means the iPod IR remote (and the EMV touch screen) can’t be used to control the iPod user menus. I hope the next generation will fix this limitation.

You can get a remote for the iPod's http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/71701/wo/yk1a3eVATmKm3Dr4h8un2q4NQVv/4.SLID?mco=BB5E48CD&nplm=MA128G%2FA
Or even turn the iPod INTO a universal remote lol. http://features.engadget.com/entry/6336778455600767
