hi all, gone through the threads and i was just wondering to get aftermarket speakers installed, is the stock sub enough to handle them, or should i get another? also, i'm looking at getting maximum bass, whilst still having functional (as a soarer can possibly be) boot space. so im wondering what sort of speakers people have put cabin wise,
Currently got my sights set on a set of Alpine Type-S 6x9" (15 x 23cm) Coaxial 3-Way Speaker

so what im basically wondering is; are the stock amps currently in my car fit enough to handle the upgrade?
In a word, no. The factory amplifiers were designed to run the factory speakers which are low power, efficient speakers. To get the most out of your new speakers you will need a new amplifier. This goes double for the sub!
If you can afford it, I would look at running splits instead of coaxials, soarers have factory midbass and tweeter locations so installation is easy enough and you will find you will get a higher soundstage with the tweeters being more on axis than what they would be if you go with coax's . In other words you will gain more detail and overall better sound.

The stock sub is fine if you want to keep the boot space. Some people upgrade their subs as well. I'm in the process of upgrading mine and will let you know how it goes.
This is my current setup. 5" coaxials fronts. 6" splits at the rear. Stock sub. Powered by a BOSS amp 4 x 60w for the speakers and a Response AMP bridged at 500w for the stock sub. Setup is very crisp clear and bassy but not at the level of doof doof where the whole street can hear it. Personally i prefer the bass level to compliment the treble. Sound is crisp and clear the way it should be.

Also Michael i notice you work in the A/V industry. Are you interested in becoming an infinity dealer? I work for the distributor of infinity loudspeakers.

yeah thats cool dude. I don't work in the audio side of the company anyway. I work in the control side. So if you're looking at automation/control systems for your jobs let me know.
We have had some dealers make some really kick ass theatres with our system.
