Hello all, have read with interest various threads in ICE but none give me enough insight to know if what I want to do is do-able.
In simple terms I want to:
1)Replace only Sub leave all other speakers & amps OEM.
2)Remove OEM Head unit & replace with JVC KD-AVX 33 (I want the head unit to display video to the OEM EMV)
In different threads there is loads of conflicting info so I had decided to use Mark Paddick as the final word on anything that was up for debate. Now that Marks left us, do we have a new Goo Roo on all things ICE?
What are the road blocks, if any to what I want to do? What are the solutions?
I dont need much if any advise on the actual install as my uncle is an ex auto A/V tech from way back. My prime reason for this tread is just to understand any specific integration issues into the EMV with A/F head units.
Cheers
Carlos

I have nothing but respect for the combined knowledge of the members on this forum. There are the chosen few- Neil yourself included that a reserve the highest respect for of all.
I think if every post I have every posted was looked at there would not be a single instance where I have disrespected anyone....ever.
I apologise if I have inadvertently dis'd anyone.
I had a chance to buy the JVC headunit at a one day only sale (yesterday)at a 30% discount....considering it is a $1k piece of gear I wanted to be sure before I bought it.
I didn't buy it cause I didn't hear from anyone who could confirm it was gonna work.
Maybe since I spent from mid morning Fri to mid day Sat rereading old threads on ICE rather than just "phishing" for the answer like a lazy SOB my frustration was showing, but in rereading what I posted I don't think so.
I apologise. Please accept my humble apology.
Now on to business.
I know the OEM H/U is needed for the feeds (from TV box under rear seat) for video/audio into the EMV, cause there isnt In's for vid/audio on the back of the EMV itself for this specific purpose. I know if the H/U is in the system the button to select TV needs to be pressed to get TV/DVD (whatever vid source you have wired into the box under the back seat) I know you loose the OEM AMP's & have to rewire/power (new) AMP's but can drive OEM speakers if you don't have the OEM H/U in the system.
What I want to know is:
If I rewire all speakers (either OEM or new)& AMP's (new) to JVC H/U & relocate the OEM H/U under the rear seat or somewhere else & rewire/extend the TV select switch back up to the EMV...say one of the buttons on the left bank of unused buttons on the EMV (one of the Sat Nav controls is my target) Will I have a working system? Everything I have read in various posts makes me think this will work but no one else seems to have done it, either I'm a clever fellow, a dreamer, a dummy or worst of all its already been done there is a detailed thread or tut on it & in two days of research I didn't see it.....

The JCV has a standard video output for a 2nd screen, though it will still use it's own screen as the main display for the unit.
I am not 100% about the EMV, but if you can rig it with the DVD mod to accept RCA video input, then the JVC unit will push straight into the video input of the EMV.
I also have this unit, but I am using new amps, new speakers, and custom cabling right through the car, and I also dont have the EMV stuff in my TT.

The headunit is great, although the bluetooth phone thing is sometimes a little funky, and sometimes it doesn't want to remember the USB is still connected when a call is finished, and I have to cycle through the sources and re-select again, and skip to the track I was enjoying before the call.
Other than this, the screen is high quality, movies are great, and it reads non-region (backed up) DVD's as well.

The JVC Pairs fine, can even voice dial, not just from phone book, but you can voice dial phone numbers (this is pairing with my Motorola Rokr Z6), but my only issue is when the call drops, it 'sometimes' forgets it was using a USB thumb-drive to source music, and comes up with "device not found", a quick reset of the thumb drive, or scrolling through the sources brings it back.
I have also paired the head unit with a Nokia 6600, and it was sweet, paired with an Ericsson and it was good as well.
my Pioneer DEH 9 series was awesome as well, but no inbuilt screen and DVD player, but it did have an ipod adapter.

I bought the JVC H/U from Wow, got it for $920, was pretty happy with the price Also got 6inch splits & a sub (my OEM sub was shot had a torn cone) & AMP all fm Jaycar. Splits & sub in parcel shelf already, moved OEM H/U to where TV AMP was located under rear seat. Extended TV & CD compiler buttons back up to EMV ready for new H/U. Ran speaker outs from old H/U to boot to hook into new AMP. All in all happy with progress for today.
