I was trying to sort my non working TV out today..the tv tuner box has been modified and there are leads all over the car, there are 3 phonos coming from the emv area,2 audio and a video so i thought i would try and bypass the tuner box altogether and plugged the yellow lead into the satnav unit(panasonic dv2300_,it went pop and now doesnt work. so now i have a tv tuner box that doesnt appear to work and a satnav unit that definately doesnt work there are also leads in the glovebox,no idea what these do either. the tv tuner box has 2 triple leads, one of these was used for the satnav, but only 2 of the 3 cables used and the other triple cable is not connected to anything,no idea what this can do,it has double ended phono plugs? the tv has never had a picture but used to get snow, the satnav worked on channel 20 until a few weeks ago. can anyone tell me what the hell all these leads are for and secondly how i can get satnav displayed on the emv if i get hold of another dv2300 unit? i have absolutely no interest in having the tv working but would like satnav to work.thanks.
ps,wasnt all bad,i sorted my windy sunroof out and got heating again(coolant was low).

Stewart, I supplied the TV kit to Carlos about 3-4 years ago when he had the 31 - he used a flame torch to put it together so it didn't work .
I received the kit back from him (that went into the bin) and his TV tuner. The TV tuner was modified with a new kit and worked on my test bench, then sent back. I didn't charge him for this work.
Carlos never seemed to be unable to use the TV tuner because his 31 had the aerials removed/cut off (?). I believe he then swapped it into the 32 that you now own.
The modified TV tuner did have 2 sets of AV cables from it (6 connectors)allowing video and stereo audio on channels 19 and 20.
You do not need the tuner to use the AV feature.
You need to speak to Carlos and ask him about all the other leads as I have never worked on any of his cars.
I have a spare 2300 that I can connect directly to the EMV (so that you can still hear the hifi :-)

i cant get hold of carlos anymore and having seen of the work done to the car i dont really want to... i want to sort things myself if possible i will have to remove the emv surround at some point and trace the cables back, dont understand why this video cable made it pop,i presume it must have 12 volts thru it?? i plugged the tv tuner back in now without the satnav and its just a black screen followed by a white screen if i press bottom right emv surround button.diagnostics tells me this- http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c202/gt4mainman/009-1.jpg no idea what that says lol so you have a unit that i can plug directly ito my emv and sling this tv tuner in the bin?? tell me more

searching thru the archives i presume this is how it would be wired in? http://members.westnet.com.au/rbaird/dvdinstall.htm i think mine was done like this as there are lots of cables taped into the cables on the tv plug though this doesnt really explain why the satnav stopped displaying 2 weeks ago if the plug doesnt need to be plugged into the tuner like it says here.the 2300 still had power etc but no disply, now it has nothing

ok,just spent a few hours searching back thru posts and it looks like it involves using the FVT,i presume this is the connector in the centre console with the switch? but then the posts also say that the tv tuner must be working to be able to use this... my car doesnt have these terminals,my old 31 did have them but one post shows them available as a complete unit on the epc,if i get this is there a spare connector under the shifter to plug it in?

Hi, can anyone tell me why my radio won't tune to a station? The car (93' uzz31) was imported from japan last October. Lifting out the rear seat has revealed what looks like 4 aerial wires (see picture) going nowhere!, there also seems to be a 'module' missing from the far left behind drivers seat, is this the tuner? Oh and the emv is blank too! One more thing, is the metal unit under my cd stacker in the boot the sat nav? Thanks Guys.

Luke, thanks for your comments, most helpful. As you can probably gather I'm new to the Soarer so i'm looking to make some useful contacts. As for the radio problem, there is power as I get a constant hiss and whats more the tape and cd stack work fine! So it would seem that the 4 x aerial leads going nowhere is the reason for no radio signal, so what do you think are my options? Thanks Luke
