... and ended up with all this :-)

Haven't bought a replacement subwoofer yet. Now with the speakers I may use or may not, depending as my amplifier is 2 Ohm compatible (iirc the factory speakers are 2 Ohm?).

Install begins tonight, can't wait!

Wheres the Ipod mate?

That lovely pile of kit will keep you busy over the weekend! I have the DDX-7039 which is a previous model to the one you have, been very happy with it so far. Does yours have the satnav built in or do you need to use the optional hide-away box like mine?

iPod didn't make it out of the store hahah.

The HU I have there is all in-built (GPS is all on an SD card), the only other things I could really attach are the TV tuner unit and reverse camera (which I didn't go ahead with).

I'm having a look at the install manuals at the moment and there are two mystery wires lol (Relay 1 and 2), looks like it may be for the remote wire to the amps but not too sure just yet. Then I need to fab out some mounting points for the front splits and possibly rears too (don't know what size the rear speakers are in mine...).

lol, I had a felling you didnt end up getting the ipod.

I am using two amps and I don't recall using relay lines 1 or 2 so I don't think they are the amp triggers, but I could be wrong. Just double check the install manual.

I have the bluetooth module in mine as well as the ipod cable hooked up and they both work a treat, I use the ipod everyday now and surprisingly the sound is not too bad, even on the more heavily compressed songs. Having said that a well recorded CD is still better

Satnav module is next on the list...

Make sure you take plenty of pics during the install

I've never had such a swish looking HU before, can't wait until it's all in!

In the instruction manual it says to connect the 2 relay wires to a/the relay box... wherever that is.

And will do on the pictures :-)

Fit the Kenwood double din to a TT a few weeks back.
Although the Kenwood in made in China, the quality is far better than the eBay made in China crap with 3 months warranty.

RRP is $2499 but a lot of places have dropped the price quite a bit.

The HU doesn't sit flush with the centre console. I'm trying to figure out a way to get it to sit nice and flush but it looks mighty nice :-)

Mine came with a black plastic faceplate that will be easy enough to cut to size and place flush with the surround and line up with the AC controls above it. Did yours come with one?

Hi mate,

Yeah there's a black trim plate that I could cut to size :-)

I got the HU in but I'm still trying to figure out how to cleanly route the speaker wires... hopefully all will be in this weekend :-)

Yeah its an over-sized piece of trim you can cut down, thats the one.

Getting the speaker cables into the doors was a b!tch of a job (although I used thicker than average cable). It took ages but I eventually got them through the rubber boot with all the other cables.

I will get around to posting my system build one day....im just a lazy bugger

Please do, did you end up removing the the rubber boot to get to them? I'll have to investigate when I pull the door trims off on the weekend.

I'm also going to try to flush mount the unit so it sits correctly in the dash.

Yep, I took the boot out of its socket and it made it easier to get the cable through BUT getting the boot back in was a pain in the butt so its a catch 22. Just take your time and you will be fine.

I am still to fit the trim piece but I am sure it will mount in-line with the AC controls above.

Well I got the speakers installed. I'm running a set of MTX 4" front splits from the amp mounted onto the factory speaker baffles and I got the factory sub running off the Kenwood amplifier too. God I love this system :-)

Hi guys,

Just a quick question to anyone that's installed a DVD unit in their Soarer, what colours are the wiring for the handbrake? It's the only thing that I haven't hooked up.

No idea about your cars wiring.

But if you look under the handbrake cover you should be able to see the wire coming out towards the front end. Possibly green wire.

But normally if you connect the handbrake wire on the HU then it won't work when moving...

At the moment the damn thing says "Parking Off" :-( and the handbrake wiring (from the HU) is isolated from everything else.

Hmmm, this one is different.

Ok, now i won't be held responsible if this kills the HU, so it might be wise to ask a stereo store.

With some you can connect the parking wire to 'ground' so it can bypass the message.

But before you do it, confirm with someone first. Just ask like Autobarn or any audio store.
