Hi All, Can anyone confirm that the parcel tray of a TT takes either a 8" or a 10" sub? I have measured the hole in the tray and its a 8" but everyone seems to be writing about a 10" in posts??

Hi James. I have a 10 inch sub in the back of my parcel tray but it has been mounted on MDF board so as the sub doesn't touch the petrol tank. (therefore you don't have to go with the shallow sub)

Thanks guys, Brought a 8" free air sub because i didnt want to hassel with the MDF to mount a 10". removed my 2x 15" subs from the back( so i have a boot) and it sound great, kicking base, doesnt make the whole car rattle but the note sounds just as good i swear. ;)

focal make one, 200w RMS, and it is about 299 or so, its a little 8" and suited to free air or really small boxes, 10L. i spoke to a chap at Moorooka Northfield car sound in brisbane, recommends them for Celsiors, LS400's, soarers, they even put them in Falcon's really tight and punchy for a free air. me personally i am going for 2 8" woofers on the back shelf, using JBL 8" coaxes and cutting the tweeter wire, and running them off the sub channel of my headunit

Does anyone know the specs of the standard sound system in soarers? I'm not sure if there is different ones or they all came with the same but it sounds pretty good to me for a stock system, just needs a little more volume at times.

it is an 8" 2 ohm, 45 watt sub. you can get an 8" 2 ohm 35watt sub from jaycar for under 50 bucks. but as alot of people do, they put 10" subs on the back shelf. the only issue is, if you dont' happen to have an aftermarket headunit, i would recommend going to your local jaycar store, or you can order online www.jaycar.com.au

YES.
Once you remove your parcel shelf you will see where it can go, you simply get your stanley knife and cut the bit of glue holding it in and PULL ! BAM there is your sub hole ready to go.
I pulled mine out and some other bits that also came out to get more BASS into my cabin from my boot.... and it worked a charm ! my 15" Kicker really goes well now.

Awsome Tip James... I just installed my JBL 12" in my boot and it sounds good, but was wondering why its a little quieter than my falcon! ( did the same trick, never thought to do it in the soarer)
Cheers.

I did the same in mine a while ago and had to make some substantial adjustments to the bass & eq settings. The increase in bass was awesome.

Glad you liked it boys.
I dont even have my boot / fuel tank cover thingo in my boot anymore. I reckon it sounds better without that also. I can always throw it back in there if i need to or if and when i sell it.

I've got a 12" JL Audio sub (12W3V4), would it be likely to fit straight in my V8 soarer? or do i HAVE to use an amp as well? Would it even fit in the parcel shelf?

Hi Everyone im looking at upgrading my sound system also. I want to focus on very good sound instead of just a heap of doof doof.
How can i fit a 10" sub in the parcel tray? Took the car to Strathfield and they said that the only sub that can be fit in is a shallow one. But i see people have fit in a 10". How can i fit one in? and does free air sub sound like crap? If i put a 10" free air in, would it sound any better than hooking the factory sub up with the new speakers?

Hi Karen. You are better off leaving the factory sub instead of going a free air sub. I have a 10 inch jaycar sub in the rear parcel tray(where the factory sub is located). The sub was massive for a ten inch. I had to open up the sub hole a little. I also had get a mdf spacer(about an inch and a half thick) that was mounted on top of the hole. There are many 10 inch subs that are not as big as the jaycar sub, therefore they won't require as much fiddling around . There are many other people using 10 inch subs that may be able give more info

Im looking at a poineer 10" free air sub. Would this sound alot better than the factory sub? As changing the sub would involve messing around with it. If it wont sound alot better.. theres no point! And how difficult is it to fit 6x9's in the parcel tray instead of the 6"? LOL and also 6" in the front? Instead of the stock 4.5? I have my eye on the yellow cone MTX front speakers.
