Hi guys, new soarer owner here, I will introduce myself in the other section soon.
I've been trawling the forums about installing a single DIN head unit where the tape player is (yes, i don't care that I won't be able to use the EMV audio or patch a DVD player to emv), from what I can ascertain i'll ignore the stock speaker amp and just wire the stock speakers direct from the head unit.
I would like to use the factory sub and amp though, this site claims i can patch the rear speaker signal speaker wires through something called a "DI" (passive direct injection box), but these are now out of stock at jaycar.
My question is, can I simply use a line out converter instead? I can't tell if these are the same thing or not, sorry i'm kind of new to this.
Sample: ((HEAD UNIT))--------rcacable---------((LINE OUT CONVERTER))---------speakercable---------((SUBAMP))

Hey Benjamin,
that was my install using the Jaycar DI box. As far as I know, they are primarily used for PA systems. You may be able to source one from another supplier.
