Hi all.
i am in the process of planning a stereo upgrade, and was wondering if there is room in the doors and rear deck to replace the stock 4" speakers with decent 5.25" speakers ? i'm thinking about 5.25" Boston splits up front, and 5.25" Boston's in the rear, with a pioneer 8" sub, all in the factory locations, running off of the 5ch D class jaycar amp.
i'm not looking for an earth shaking, bass pounding system, just a big upgrade over the stock setup, and it's important (to me) that it all be hidden away from sight in the stock locations.
Jason.

You'll get 2.25" up front no worries, you just need to mod the stock box a bit (search and ye shall find). The stock rear speakers are either 4" or 6" depending on the option packs, so 5.25" up back will pose no problem. You'll just need to remove the stock plastic spacer plates, and cut out an appropriately sized mdf version and stick it back in there.
If you want to get creative with spacer plates, you can get a 10" sub in there without to many hassles.

jason, i have just installed a set of focal 5.25" speakers in my fronts, if you want to retain the "box" parsae, you will need to separate the front of the box from the rear of the box and make up a new front as the 5.25's just dont fit, not only because the factory hole is 4" but also there is a few obstructions in the box. i made up a new face, and they fit fine. but to be quite honest, i would just go the extra and get 6.5" splits up front. but the focal tweeters fit perfectly in the factory mounting position.

i have actually changed my setup again...(done that about 4 times now) have not settled on a finished system yet, but the adaptors to run 6.5" speakers cost as per the ebay listing further up in this thread.
once i am completely finished, a will take pictures and price the whole lot. i'm doing most of the install myself, with some help from friends.

How about this? (hope it works)
This is a 10% sized image - the centre hole should end up at 140mm (the 175mm spacer rings are mounted over this hole). They are obviously handed so just mirror for both sides +++ jpeg +++ 270676 +++ Upload +++

mmmmm, just got the comptuer routing machine up and firing again, and made nearly 100% perfect replicas of the speaker baffle pannels. just got to adjust the screw holes, however will probably be getting these into prodcution, check the "Parts for Sale section". also to add, got a set of Focal 165KR splits, the new Kevlar Splits, just under the K2 Splits, and WOW are they worth it. also, i wouldn't bother fitting 5.25" splits as you still need to modify the factory box or make a baffle pannel. and as well, you loose alot of your midbass up front. so spend the extra few $$$ and get the 6.5's whatever brand, you will be much happier
