hi, been through the list, cant find any threads. can any one recomend a new sub for the parcel shelf ? i am assured it needs to be a "free air " type, and understand it wont be as responsive as an enclosed one , but i need the boot space. ta david

look at the Pioneer TS-SW841D 8" sub. it's an infinite baffle design (Free Air), is very flat (Shallow) has relatively high power handling, and retails at about $180.

ps.... it fits flush on the parcel shelf no need for the plastic spacer. i am fitting the amps in the boot under the parcel shelf , can take some photos if you want .

that would be great (pictures)
does the stock sub grill fit with no problems ? i am aiming for a system that (apart from the head unit) is completely hidden from view.
as for amp settings, just start out on the lower side of the gain, and slowly work your way up to what works well, with the rest of the system. you don't want to overpower the rest of the system with bass. also, i would set the low pass crossover at about 80HZ. but in the end, it's all experimentation to see what sounds best (to you).

jason , you need to keep the plastic surround on the sub spkr. i put sound deadening around the mounting before screwing the spkr in. get some sound deadening on the fuel tank [ it rattles like ] and the parcel shelf.

note ..sound deadening on bottom of checker plate, fuel tank and parcel shelf. its hard to bolt the sub to the steel parcel shelf..i also put sound deadening between the sub and the parcel shelf to prevent rattles.

cam...yep its not bad for a "free air" sub... 3 things... first put twice as much sound deadening on the parcel shelf as you thought you might need or/and make it more rigid. second..with a 10in you cant use the existing rear light assembly. third....if u want extra base put 6X9 good quality speakers on each side it will give you more base. cant run it any where near flat out, it bounces of the stops , but to do better you will be well advised to build an enclosure.
